Terrifying Power

Dear Friends,

The sheer power that abides in the person of God is, honestly, terrifying.

During our vacation on the coast of Alabama we observed the power of the ocean under the influence of Tropical Storm Hannah. To feel the salt in the driving wind, hear the crashing of the water, and see the foaming white waves billowing into land like charging bison was incredible-awe inspiring. To think that no man could tame that power is humbling. To know that God, as the creator of that power, has even greater power than any of this creation is nothing short of terrifying.

As we watched the storm and felt its winds lashing out, there was always the assurance that if we really needed to, or even wanted to, we could flee the fury of creation. Along with that was the clear understanding that no one will flee the fury of the creator, ever. His power-omnipotent. His presence-omnipresent. His knowledge of all that touches me, my excuses, my inner thoughts, my motives, my heart-omniscient.

To experience that kind of terrifying power working in love will bring a man to his knees in worship and adoration.

Romans 8:31, 35 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us…What shall separate us from the love of Christ…

Let’s worship…together.
