Knowing God, Week 1

Thanks for joining us for "Read with Me", the "unofficial" book club at Valley Chapel. Unofficial? Well, we aren't passing around sign up sheets and there are no grades. You may be unofficially tested though... when someone stops you in the hall at church and asks about what you read this week!

Our desire is for this to help you become complete in Christ and to equip you for the works of service that God has especially planned for you (Colossians 1:28; Ephesians 4:12; Ephesians 2:10). Reading good books that grow us in the knowledge of God is one way we pursue this.

Read with Me

This Sunday we announced a new discipleship opportunity at Valley Chapel. Our desire is to provide more avenues for our church to be exposed to God's Word and good books that teach us more about God and His Word. This is one way that we can practically seek to "set our minds on things above" (Colossians 3:2).

Pray for Us!

Prayer was a vital part of the life and ministry of Paul. He didn't simply exhort Christians to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17), he also did this himself and modeled what prayer for other Christians should look like (Colossians 1:3-12; Ephesians 1:15-23). He lived what he prescribed. 

But prayer was also vital for Paul in another way. He knew that he needed the prayers of others. He felt this need and asked often for other believers and churches to pray for him.
